The University of New Mexico is the state’s flagship public research institution. It became the first school in the United States to launch a Signature School Program with the CIA. The University Arena, or "The Pit" as it’s called, is one of basketball's most famous buildings. It is ranked 8th by USA Today as one of the best stadiums to watch college basketball.
