Robert E. Rubin is actively engaged as the founder of The Hamilton Project, an economic policy think tank that aims to benefit Americans. He began his career in finance at Goldman Sachs in 1966, serving as a Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Operating Officer from 1987-1990, and Co-Senior Partner and Co-Chairman from 1990-1992. Before joining Goldman, he was an attorney at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York City from 1964-1966. From 1999 to 2009, he was a member of the board of directors at Citigroup and a senior advisor to the company. In 2010, he joined Centerview Partners as a senior counselor. Rubin also serves as chairman of the board of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the nation's leading community development support organization.
