Charles Wheelan is a best-selling author, journalist, speaker, and a senior lecturer of public policy and economics. He aims to make important academic ideas understandable to the broadest audience possible and to use these powerful ideas to address real social challenges. Referred to as the “economics handyman,” Wheelan always had a passion for public policy and solving real problems. With economics and statistics, he utilizes a good set of tools for understanding how the world works. In the special election to replace Rahm Emanuel in March of 2009, Wheelan ran unsuccessfully for Congress as the representative from the Illinois 5th District.
