Mark Joseph Carney is a Canadian economist and banker who served as the Governor of both the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013, and Bank of England from 2013 to 2020. Carney began his career at Goldman Sachs before joining the Canadian Department of Finance. In addition to his duties as Governor of the Bank of England, he served as First Vice-Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board, and remains a member of the Group of Thirty and the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum.
